Learning Florals: Sketches, Colour & Composition
I’ve always been drawn to the way floral motifs can elevate lettering—adding rhythm, softness, and personality to letterforms. To deepen my understanding of this relationship, I took Gia Graham’s Skillshare class, Fun with Florals.
The class helped me break down florals in a very approachable way—from planning balanced compositions to choosing and applying colour thoughtfully. What I especially appreciated was how systematic yet playful the process felt, which made experimenting with florals far less intimidating.
Shared here are my practice sketches and colour explorations from the class. This exercise helped me build confidence in integrating florals with lettering, and I’m excited to keep refining this process in future projects.
